Elim is a city in Nome Census Area, Alaska, located at 64°37′4″N 162°15′24″W. According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 366 residents. Known in Central Yupik as Neviarcaurluq and in Inupiaq as Nivviaqhchauġluq, Elim first appeared on the 1920 U.S. Census as an unincorporated village before being formally incorporated in 1970. The city spans 2.4 square miles of land and features a subarctic climate with cold, long winters and warm, short summers. Notably, Elim marks the westernmost location for the range of black spruce in North America.
The community is served by the Bering Strait School District, with Aniguiin School providing education from Pre-K through 12th grade.
