Morris is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, with a population of 2,256 according to the 2020 census. European settlement in the area began around 1723, and the town was originally part of Litchfield, known as the South Farms for its location five miles south of the county center. Morris became a separate Congregational parish in 1767 and was incorporated as a town in 1859. It takes its name from James Morris, a native son who was a Yale graduate, a Revolutionary War officer, and founder of one of the first co-educational secondary schools in the nation.
