Revere is a city located approximately five miles northeast of Downtown Boston in Suffolk County, Massachusetts. One of the oldest communities in the United States, the area was originally known as Rumney Marsh, named for the six-hundred-acre salt marsh in the region. The city borders Massachusetts Bay and is particularly known for Revere Beach, a three-mile stretch on the eastern coast that holds the distinction of being the oldest public beach in the United States, established in 1896.
