Teec Nos Pos is a census-designated place in Apache County, Arizona, with a population of 507 according to the 2020 census. The name comes from Navajo and means "Circle of cottonwood trees." The community originally stood several miles south of its present location, where it was known as Tisnasbas before being officially named by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1915. The settlement moved north to its current position at the junction of U.S. Highways 160 and 64, which marks the western terminus of U.S. Route 64. During the 1930s, the Indian Irrigation Service built two concrete diversion dams on nearby T'iisnazbas Creek to irrigate approximately 400 acres of Navajo farmland. The community was renamed Teec Nos Pas in 1960 and then Teec Nos Pos in 1983. Teec Nos Pos sits about seven miles southwest of the Four Corners Monument, making it the closest settlement of significant size to that landmark. A trading post established here in 1897 remains one of the few Navajo trading posts still operating as of 2025. The community has become known as a center for Navajo weaving, particularly for the distinctive Teec Nos Pos weaving patterns. The area experiences a cold desert climate, with temperature extremes ranging from 106 degrees Fahrenheit in July 2021 to minus 18 degrees Fahrenheit in January 1974.
