Timblin is a small borough located in southwestern Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. According to the 2020 census, the community is home to 147 residents. The area's earliest settlers arrived in Perry Township during the early 1800s, beginning with James McClelland in 1803, followed by Benjamin Ions and David Hamilton. Additional pioneers including Elijah Ekis, Michael Lantz, and William Smith arrived in 1815. William Smith later relocated with his sons to land that would become part of Timblin in 1843. The town itself took shape around 1883 when John A. Timblin opened a store at the site. The community was named to honor Andy Timblin, who served as postmaster in the mid-1880s. A post office was established in 1889, and growth accelerated following the 1910 completion of a nearby railroad extension. The early twentieth century brought economic development, including the opening of the Timblin Coal Company in 1913 and the First National Bank in 1918. Local businesses flourished during this period, with establishments such as Cosmano's Restaurant, a furniture store, and a clothing shop all opening in the early 1920s. In 1923, residents voted to incorporate Timblin as a borough, electing T. L. Miller as burgess and establishing a municipal government. Today, Timblin remains a quiet rural community covering 0.95 square miles in the valley of Pine Run.
