In 1909, Healdsburg College, a Seventh-day Adventist institution, relocated from Healdsburg and purchased the Angwin Resort for $60,000 to establish Pacific Union College, fundamentally shaping the community's character. By 1985, more than eighty percent of Angwin's residents belonged to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The area experiences a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers, with average January temperatures ranging from 37.9 to 52.2 degrees Fahrenheit. Angwin receives approximately 40.60 inches of precipitation annually, though rainfall varies significantly year to year. In August 2020, the community was evacuated due to the Hennessey Fire.
