Branson's evolution into the entertainment capital accelerated dramatically in the latter half of the twentieth century. The Presley family moved their show to Highway 76 in 1967, sparking a theater boom. By the early 1990s, Branson had become home to more than fifty theaters, hosting nationally known entertainers including Boxcar Willie, Shoji Tabuchi, Andy Williams, and many others. A 1991 60 Minutes episode called Branson the "live music capital of the entire universe."
