Cooper Landing is a census-designated place located on the Kenai Peninsula about 100 miles south of Anchorage, situated at the outlet where Kenai Lake flows into the Kenai River. The Sterling Highway, which opened in 1950, became the vital artery linking the Kenai Peninsula communities. Today, Cooper Landing thrives as a summer tourist destination, drawing visitors to its scenic location and access to world-class salmon fishing on the Kenai River and Russian River. The community is home to Gwin's Lodge, one of Alaska's oldest log roadhouses, built in 1952 and still operating. As of the 2020 census, Cooper Landing had a population of 344 residents.
