Today it serves as home to Feather Falls Elementary School, a K-8 facility, and carries the ZIP code 95940, which it shares with part of Oroville.

The Mooretown post office operated from 1888 to 1913, marking an early period of settlement. The Feather River post office opened briefly in 1919 and was re-established in 1921, the same year the name changed to Feather Falls. In 1938, the post office relocated to its present location. Feather Falls also holds significance as the eastern terminus of the Feather River Railway, which ran west from the community.
