Angelus Oaks is an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County, California, nestled within the San Bernardino National Forest east of San Bernardino along California State Route 38. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the community had a population of 535, an increase from approximately 312 in 2000.
Originally known as Camp Angelus, the community emerged from California's Gold Rush era. In 1849, a major gold strike in nearby Holcomb Valley created demand for supply routes. The community's early school was a log cabin that later moved to a one-room schoolhouse built in 1956, serving grades one through seven until its permanent closure in 2004. In the 1970s, when the postal service consolidated the Camp Angelus and Seven Oaks post offices, the remaining office was renamed Angelus Oaks, a name that became synonymous with the town.
