Today, Duncans Mills preserves its historic character, featuring an authentic North Pacific Coast Railroad Depot with original railroad cars, a California State Park Sector Office, and the Blue Heron Restaurant, which has long served as the town's entertainment center. According to the 2000 census, approximately 175 people live in the community, with many houses serving seasonal or recreational purposes.
