Why Wee Pay Cash For Cars in Lafayette?

Done Properly — Start to Finish

The Quote Is the Price

The price we quote is the price you get. As long as your car matches what you described, nothing changes at pickup.

We Pick Up on Your Schedule

Tell us a time that works for you, anywhere in Lafayette or Contra Costa County. We come to you — you don't drive anywhere.

We Handle the Paperwork

Selling a car in California takes a few forms, and our driver brings what's needed and walks you through it. The car does need a clear title in your name — no active loans or liens.

Where Your Car Goes Next

Every car we buy could be potentially resold at auction, or used for parts, or recycled at a licensed California yard. Nothing gets dumped or left behind.

What We Buy in Lafayette

Whatever Shape It's In, We're Interested

Every car we look at in Lafayette falls into one of a few buckets below — and every one of them gets a real cash offer.

Good Running Condition

Starts, drives, and still has life left in it. These usually get our strongest offers since less work is needed before resale.

Junk / Scrap Condition

Rusted through, stripped, or simply too far gone to drive again. We still buy these and pay based on weight and scrap value.

Salvage / Totaled

Carries a salvage title or was written off by insurance after an accident. We buy these with or without paperwork in hand.

Bad Motor or Transmission

Blown engine, seized motor, slipping gears, or stuck in park — mechanical failures like these don't change whether we'll buy it, just the number.

No Title in Hand

Lost it or never had it? Missing paperwork slows things down a little, but it rarely stops a sale. Note: we're not able to buy cars with an active loan still on them.

Our Promise in Lafayette

Why Lafayette Sellers Choose Us

Quoted Price Is Final

No surprise deductions when our driver shows up. The number we give you over the phone or online is the number you get paid.

Free Towing, Every Time

There's no towing fee folded into the offer and no fee taken out after. Pickup and tow are always free in Lafayette.

Any Condition Considered

Running, wrecked, missing parts, or sitting on a salvage title — we evaluate every car in Lafayette on its own, not by a blanket rule.

Paid Before It Leaves

You get paid on the spot at pickup, before the car ever leaves your driveway.

Common Questions

FAQ — Cash for Cars in Lafayette

Selling Your Title in California

How to Sign Over a Car Title in California

Selling a car in Lafayette means signing the title over the right way. Title rules are set at the state level, so here's exactly what California asks of you — and remember, when you sell to us, our driver brings the paperwork and walks you through every step at pickup.

Where to sign

In California, sign the front of the title on line 1A as the registered owner; a second registered owner signs on line 1B. Then complete the odometer and sale-price lines.

Notary required?

No — notarization is not required.

Your license plates

Keep your plates — they stay with you and can transfer to your next car.

Lost your title?

No problem — file an Application for Duplicate Title (REG 227) with the CA DMV.

No title in hand? We regularly buy cars without titles in California — have your ID and registration handy.

Good to know: California requires a smog certification on most sales, though many older and non-running cars are exempt.

For the official rules, see the California DMV title page.

A Little About Lafayette

The Story of Lafayette, CA

Lafayette, a city in Contra Costa County, California, is home to 25,391 residents as of 2020. The city bears the name of the Marquis de Lafayette, a French military officer who played a key role in the American Revolutionary War.

Before European settlement, Lafayette and its surroundings were inhabited by the Saclan tribe of the indigenous Bay Miwok, with Ohlone peoples also living along Lafayette Creek. In the late eighteenth century, contact with Spanish missionaries arrived, leading eventually to conflict and the subjugation of native populations, including a battle on present-day Lafayette soil in 1797.

The area's recorded American settlement began in 1846 when Elam Brown arrived from Missouri and purchased Rancho Acalanes in 1848. Brown's initial group of eighteen settlers grew steadily, expanding to seventy-six residents by 1852. He founded a mill in 1853, spurring further development. Early residents like Milo J. Hough built a hotel in 1853 and served as postmaster of the short-lived Acelanus post office.

Education took root early, with a one-room schoolhouse opening in 1852 under teacher Benjamin Shreve. The community's formal identity crystallized on March 2, 1857, when the LaFayette post office was established, with Shreve as its first permanent postmaster. Before the post office, the area had been informally called Dog Town, Brown's Corner, and Brown's Mill. In the early 1860s, Lafayette briefly hosted a Pony Express station. The city transformed from an agricultural village into a commuter town by the mid-twentieth century and was officially incorporated in 1968.
