Northville, a western suburb of Detroit located roughly 27 miles northwest of the city, has grown from a small settlement into a vibrant community spanning both Wayne and Oakland counties. European Americans first settled the area in 1825, with many arriving from central and western New York and from the nearby Plymouth community.
