The Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum, located on South Alameda Avenue, preserves the historic home of Juan Dominguez and Manuel Dominguez, the men for whom the region is named. The Dominguez family occupied this adobe until the 1920s, and it now serves as a retirement home for Claretian Catholic priests.
During the late 1800s, the railroad industry acquired much of southern Rancho Dominguez and surrounding land leading to the Los Angeles Harbor. Those same railroad tracks continue operating today, providing an important connection between the Port of Los Angeles and Downtown Los Angeles.
